Trauma
Trauma occurs when we experience something so deeply distressing, disturbing or painful that we are overwhelmed, rendered helpless or unable to cope. We maintain a safe space where clients can work through their experiences in order to develop a sense of empowerment, increase resilience and heal from past traumas.
Many of us feel we need to carry our pain with us. We may believe that our guilt and shame are deserved, perhaps we will be "bad people" if we forgive ourselves. Or that those who harmed us are "off the hook" if we heal ourselves. Often we feel so entangled with our wounds that we hold them as part of our own identities. "If I am not damaged, I don't know who I will be," for example. These are examples of blocking beliefs. Our strength-based approach will help you nurture yourself and find a new way of existing.
Trauma Therapy May Help If You
Avoid people, places or topics that remind you of the trauma.
Experience intrusive thoughts, nightmares or flashbacks.
Feel your past experiences are harming your current relationships.
Blame yourself or are carrying painful secrets.
Struggle with accessing joy or feeling persistent anxiety, worry, depression, fear, etc.
Are jumpy or feel like you need to look over your shoulder, literally or metaphorically.

Betrayal
Betrayal trauma occurs any time we believe a relationship is safe and then we find out that it is not. This can occur between lovers, parent to child, among friends or even perpetrated by institutions. Betrayal leaves us feeling helpless and consumed; it can feel like all elements of our lives are affected. I blend grief work, trauma processing and personal empowerment to address the complexities of this challenging issue. Together we will create a path forward to ensure safety, implement boundaries and invest in a new you.
How Does Betrayal Therapy Work
Identify all aspects of the betrayal, overt and covert
Feel all the feelings, when ready
Grieve the worldview that has been lost
Practice boundary-setting and self-advocacy
Increase sense of self-worth
Invest in a new identify
