EMDR

"As traumatized children, we always dreamed that someone would come and save us. We never dreamed that it would, in fact, be ourselves as adults."

EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is an extensively researched, evidence-based, leading treatment for trauma and PTSD. It can also be used for any issue that brings discomfort, including but not limited to anxiety and depression.  When our brain stores information and memories, the presence of trauma or overwhelm can impact the way our nervous systems encode these experiences.

The intent with EMDR is to change the way the body holds distress so that we are not constantly reliving or avoiding troublesome experiences. The process allows us to reconfigure how we feel about the future, decreasing fears or self-sabotaging behaviors going forward.

"If you continue to carry bricks from your past, you will end up building the same house."

Many of Us Hold Deep Secrets

We may even avoid therapy because we cannot bring ourselves to say our secrets out loud. One major benefit of EMDR is the potential to heal trauma without ever uttering our experience out loud.

EMDR May Help If You

Feel trapped in repetitive cycles of self-sabotage

Are experiencing flashbacks, nightmares, intrusive thoughts

Feel your past experiences are harming your current relationships

Struggle to say your trauma out loud

Experience shame, self-blame

Can access your imagination, or at least experience fleeting moments of happiness
